Non-Custodial Parents FATHERS and The Child Support Enforcement Division

Miami, Fl - CPI - Child Support, oftentimes confused with spousal support by the custodial parent of your child (CP) is a touchy subject and one that I want expand on from the perspective of the least heard of the parties. The least heard is arguably the non-custodial parent (NCP) and that person is more often than not the father. If you are an NCP in Florida and have a "beast" for an ex-whatever then you have propbably experienced the wrath of the Child Support Enforcement Kangaroo Courts. I mean, there is just no other name for these hap-hazardly arranged tribunals where unless you happened to be accompanied by the late Johnny Cochran, you will end up on the wrong side of the shaft; or better put the wrong side of the shaft will end up in you.
Here is is the vicious cycle: If you have a kid, you have to pay fair support (nothing wrong there). Where the cycle becomes vicious is when you step on the probervial "banana peel", lose your job, get a little behind, which leads to a lot behind because you still have to try and eat and keep a roof over your head, put gas in the car, assuming the court didnt already make you sell it to pay back-child support, and you still have to go and make some type of good faith payments to keep you from being held in contempt of court.
This is where I have to warn you my dear NCP. If you happen to be going through hardship (No one cares, not the court, not your ex, not anyone) so make sure you go to that Central depository and make payments, even if it's five bucks, because regularly made payments regardless of amount will keep you out of jail, otherwise you setting yourself up for the vivious cycle. This cycle is where you have no job, they jail you for comtempt because you didnt pay, you get out of jail even further behind, you go right back to jail because you're no closer to finding a job let alone paying down the growing arrears. And this will become a repetitious cycle if you let it, and it can cost you everything, your livelihood, your family, friends and yes even your life. And do you think the State cares? Right, you guessed it. They are eager to bury you as deep as possible all in the name of "what is in the best interest of the child". Sure, having the father jailed is going to be good for the child. Who the hell thought that one up? Like a friemd of mine in the Child Support Enforcement Division once told me., they could give a rat's ass about the NCP, they only care about statistics. They get plaques, awards and prizes for collecting support no matter the outcome of people's lives. They revel in the NCP's misery. They laugh about you, joke about you and plot in the breakrooms how they plan on sticking it to you. You are the enemy. Not for a minute do they ever consider you are actually a father trying to get through tough times too.............................................................................TO BE CONTINUED.
